Crystal's Vardo

We invite you to take a seat in our 1950s welfare hall at 11am on Tuesday, 3rd June to experience a performance like no other. Join Crystal as she travels through time on an extraordinary journey through Romani history.  Brimming with a wealth of colourful characters, humour, music and storytelling, Crystal’s Vardo brings to life the rich tapestry of Gypsy, Roma and Traveller history and culture. This is a time-travelling experience you will not forget.

Through powerful and compelling theatre, Crystal’s Vardo weaves the histories and cultures of the Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities into one story. The play aims to raise awareness of the persecution of Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities through the centuries and to reflect on the ways this manifests as anti-Gypsyism today.

Suitable for ages 7+

The performance is free to watch, but we advise booking your free space in advance as only a limited number of walk-in seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Attendees will need an Unlimited Pass or Friends of Beamish membership to enter the museum.
