Alzheimer's Research UK - Conference Admission
Alzheimer’s Research UK North East Research Network are hosting a public research event at Beamish museum between 10am - 3pm on 28th September 2026.
This event will involve researchers from universities in the North East talking to the public about the dementia research happening across the region. This event is aimed at the general public, and will take place in an informal setting with speakers communicating in an accessible and non-scientific manner. This event is free to attend in the 1950s Welfare Hall in Beamish Museum but places must be booked online in advance, places will not be available on the day from Beamish Admissions.
After the research presentations attendees will be able to explore Clover Cottage and meet members of the museum’s Health & Wellbeing Team. Performers from Balbir Singh Dance Company will also be sharing some of their vibrant and creative approaches to supporting the wellbeing of people affected by dementia.
Since 2014, the museum’s Health and Wellbeing Team have run an innovative programme of group sessions and activities. These were inspired by the museum’s unique collections and spaces and were tailored for adults living with a range of health conditions such as dementia.
In 2023, the team moved to its’ own dedicated space at Clover Cottage, in the 1950’s Town. The cottage has been designed to be fully accessible and provide a multisensory and “dementia friendly” environment.
